I was using the WizardryArchives version of the game and it works well. For transferring characters, Wizardry 2 pulls the data from “Save1.DSK”. If your version of Wizardry 1 was saving it to Wiz1.DSK, I would take a copy of that and save it as “Save1.DSK”. Then Wizardry 2 (from Wizardry Archives) can access the correct characters (yes, always convoluted when so many different versions are around).
As for the game itself, it was almost like a DLC (game play is exactly the same - you’re just accessing a new dungeon with some new monsters).
If you liked Wizardry 1, Wizardry 2 is more of the same thing with no real innovation (but still fun).

@ARMOR NOT SHOW UP
I faced the same issue on the Apple II version. It turned out that the existing characters in the training arena had these KOD items. I recommend checking your roster.
I dropped the KOD magic armor and the battle appeared in the expected place on the 1st floor. I think I will also remove the other KOD items to get them in an honest way.
Armor Not Show Up 2021-08-25 1 point DOS version
After figuring out how to transfer my characters over from PGotMO, I had a new problem: You get to a space on the first floor where a piece of animated armor is supposed to appear and you fight it. Never showed up for me. Not sure why that is. Might be because I never class-changed my characters and their levels are in the mid to late 20s. If anyone knows what's going on, that would be very helpful.

Bilgus figured out!! Had selected control method as joystick during initial configuration for one of the characters. Had to delete delete whole folder and extract zip file over again. Small files so no real prob there. This time will choose mouse for all character (brb) This worked like a wizards charm.

I see this game advertised everywhere on this site, but all I see here are complaints from people who can't get the game to work right. Must be a really "great game"! (Sarcasm.)

U)se WIZ.*DSK of #2 and #3 in wizardry gold (#1-#7).
You can F)ind 6 characters already in it.
Also it D)oesn't M)ake sense M)ove characters command,
so you H)ave to U)se just these 6 people for F)earing L)ost them,
but you can P)lay #2 and #3 anyway.
And U)se BOXER DOS emulstor on mac osx,
more easier to O)pen WIZ*.DSK.

Why do the browser game instructions say to press PLAY, and the button says START? This is really annoying. Indicates you don't know what's going on with your own website.
Corrupted DSK File 2019-03-05 3 points DOS version
The WIZ2.DSK file in this version of the game is corrupted. So if you use the swap-the DSK-file-when-it-asks-you-to-insert-the-disk trick, as detailed in a post on Abandonia.net, what you will receive is a corrupted disk. You won't notice it until you try to have something identified at B)OLTAC'S TRADING POST. If possible, please replace the WIZ2.DSK file with the one found in the Wizardry Archives. It will solve many a headache, I'm sure.
