I'm a big fan of old games, especially for racing games, so this game has been my main priority to get working on emulators! :)
Unfortunately, I could not get it working on a school Chromebook with DOSBox (Using the Linux development environment so basically Linux DOSBox) but WILL work on a windows gaming laptop at home.

you have to install it and use DOSBOX ECE which is a modified version of Dosbox, you can find it in Web Archive and download from there...
use VESA_NOLFB as videocard and it works, the other options did not work for me...
CD command is: imgmount D .\NFS.ISO -t iso

That was relased in 1994, and just now download it at 29 years later... But that still like feels good in my windows 10. Thanks for sharing.

This was the first game i ever saw on pc. We had C64 before, and this was the first ever interaction of a PC back in the early 90's :D Nostalgic :D For me, that was a beginning of an era :D

If you want to play DOS games on Android, then get Magic DosBox. There is a free version that has a limit of 1 game.

All cars in this download have the dodge viper engine sound. and there is only one music track. not sure why this is.

This game requires that you have SVGA/VESA video card. Too bad, it is very stupid to make game like this. What a waste. Couldn't the developer be smart enough to support VGA card ? Stupid a*holes.

winedbg nfssound.exe did make the job. I type quit and was allow to a menu where i choose 3 for sb16, and after that come back to dosbox, run nfs.bat and it work!

I have no sound, I'm running tnfs.exe cause nfs.bat launch nfssound.exe -r, and this one doesn't seem to work with dosbox. I try to run it with wine, but it doesnt work either. Something else to do?

If you are running the RIP version and do not have sound, go to the folder where you installed Need For Speed and then click on NFSSOUND, I chose sound blaster. (Do not try to run NFSSOUND through DOSbox, because it is not a dos file). Then go back to DOSbox and run NFS. you should now have sound. this worked for me, anyway.

By playing this game back then I had the feeling I'm actually racing. And the images of the cars looked amazing in dos! :)

I downloaded both. ISO and RIP. RIP is working, but has no sound. And in ISO they´re missing a lot of files. :(
I hope that sb can help me. (Sorry for my bad english, i´m German)

I agree, NFS HP2 was the best one, the killing shot (at least for me) was NFS Underground...eww.

Can't get it to work. Missing some files when trying to play the game. Install.bat won't install because of "Illegal command: arj." - what to do?

Anyone else have the problem where they can only go backward and not go forward? I'm running Windows Vista on a 32-bit Dell Model PP31L laptop.

The game that started a legend. My favorite was NFS Hot Pursuit 2 (2002)
