Description of Donkey Kong
Donkey Kong is a great PC port of Nintendo's classic arcade game that needs no introduction, since it has been ported to just about every console and computer system you can imagine.
In case you have never heard of the game until this moment (and if that’s true, you most likely never played games until recently), here’s the deal: you control a plump construction worker called Jumpman (who would later morph into a plumber named Mario in Nintendo’s most successful series) who must rescue his girlfriend Pauline from the clutches of Donkey Kong, a giant gorilla modeled after the movie. You do this by jumping over barrels and other obstacles that Kong throw at you, and climbing up ladders to the top. Straightforward, but a lot of fun and quite addictive.
This port by Atari does justice to the original arcade sensation, only minus the bright colors due to hardware limitations of PCs in 1983. Still, it remains one of Atari’s best PC ports that remain highly playable to this day. Be sure to slow the game down with slowdown programs, though.

The C64 pictures show two different versions of the game, one by Ocean and one by Atarisoft. Only the Ocean version is in the download, however.

Not counting my dad's Pong console, this was the very video game I ever owned. It came with the ColecoVision console. The number of hours spent on this. The opening level is a classic and my favourite level of the entire game. Best game featuring Mario.

Setting speed works in D-Fend (set CPU cylces to 500) which extends DOS-BOX. Couldn't figure out how to leave this game ... have to kill the window. I also always get CGA colors instead of EGA ... Really tricky not to miss these laders ... as it was in the 80s ... annoyed me then, annoys me now ;-) ...

Plays way too fast. You can't even move Jump Man before a barrel kills him.
