How do you get this to play the music without the CD?
Thanks

Absolutely legendary game. Spent countless of hours on this as a kid when it came with some magazine or whatever. Still holds up now, in my opinion. I would kill for a sequel or reboot with new content.

Love the game. Played it all the time in the early 200's. My program keeps crashing. Downloaded the patch to version 1.1 and no help. I usually get about 2 races done, then it says it has to close the program. Running in 98/ME compatability. Any ideas?

I remember having this as a demo, gift from a pc magazine back in the days. Countless hours of fun and rage between my little brother and me :) this game wakes up so many memories...

I may have found another solution to the black screen issue. The game appears to have a 23 character/letter limit for the name of the folder that contains the games main executable.
So, if you unzip the RIP version, it contains a folder called "3D Ultra Radio Control Racers". This is longer than 23 letters. If you change this folders name to "Radio Control Racers" you should (hopefully) be able to run the game and see everything without any compatibility settings necessary.
I figured this out while troubleshooting the Deluxe version of this game, I made copies of the main folder with longer folder names to keep them apart and if the names go over a certain number of letters, the menus are black.
This might be the same issue here. Anyway, I hope this useful. :)

Hey all, I got everything going so far and followed Mortisantis suggesting running it in compatibility mode.
It starts up normal, I hear and see the little video, but as soon as that is done I get a black screen and a black box with white edges in the middle. I hear the menu when I move the mouse, but I cant seem to click anything or go to a race. Help!

If you see a black screen upon launching the game and attempting to view the menus:
• Right-click RCRacers.exe and click Properties
• Click the Compatibility tab
• Click "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select "Windows 98 / Windows Me" in the dropdown
• Click OK
• Run the game

The menus show a black screen, you can hear it and interact with it but you're essentially blind, race works, if you manage to get there.
