How to play MSX games

MSX is rather a standard than a computer, as the idea was to have common hardware and software shared by different computers. MSX computers sold well in Japan and in Europe.

MSX emulators

For Windows and Linux, fMSX is the best emulator out there, created more than 20 years ago and maintained regularly by Marat Fayzullin. For Mac users, CocoaMSX is available. Also, openMSX is available in Windows, Mac and UNIX.

Running MSX games in fMSX

The emulator fMSX is easy to use, just follow these steps:

• click on File > Open, then select the game file ;
• click on Hardware > Reset Hardware ;
• the game should start, then you can play!
