Genghis Khan II: Clan of the Gray Wolf
DOS - 1993
Also available on: FM Towns - Genesis - PC-88 - Sharp X68000 - TurboGrafx CD
Description of Genghis Khan II: Clan of the Gray Wolf
In my opinion the second-best KOEI series after Romance of The Three Kingdoms, this series is based on the awe-inspiring exploits of Temujin, a.k.a. Genghis Khan, the Mongol ruler who once ruled the biggest empire in the world.
The RTK engine is tweaked to great effect to handle nomadic lifestyle and tribal warfare, such as the option to raze cities you conquer, more emphasis on hit-and-run style of combat, and more. One of the best features in both games is that after your unification of the Mongol empire is complete, you will have access to new strategic options, such as diplomacy, in your next step to conquer the known world.
Definitely not to be missed!

Does this have the cutscenes of sex with the princesses like in the Japanese (PC-88?) version?
I used to play the DOS version at a friend's house back in the mid 1990s. All I can remember was how awesome the Mongolian cavalry was - they cut through ranks of enemy troops like knife through butter.

This is a truly magnificent game. I got the PC version in a collection many years ago. I've played this game for hundreds of hours, through some of the worst years of my life, when I couldn't afford a PC that would run anything new.
There are various hidden things. For example, if you do Conquest of Mongolia first, you can use that as a starting point for the main campaign, and then choose a different nation. Depending on the year you conquered Mongolia, there may be very different starting conditions or even a new choice. This is a game with major subtleties, there's a lot going on under the hood.
I also love and highly recommend the Romance of the Three Kingdoms series. It looks like RTK XI will be the last version for PC, sadly, as Koei pursues other ventures.

Considering that it was for DOS, it is a great game with some unique features that are hardly found even in modern games! I just love it!

This game runs perfectly.Played it through Windows XP, and brought back some good old memories.Very hard game to win at.Just goes to show you how powerful Genghis Khan truly was at his craft.
Kublai Khan is no slouch either. He was strong for his time period too.
