Description of Frontier: First Encounters
Despite being recalled from the shelves due to numerous bugs, this last incarnation of Elite still got a large following of very dedicated followers.
FFE (also known as Elite 3) sports new ships, items, missions, and a host of new features. My favorite addition is the overall plotline: particular events happen at specific times in the universe rather than all missions being randomly generated as before, and you could take part in them by taking on "hand-coded" missions. The aliens also make their first appearance in this game to complicate things.
Highly recommended, but don't forget to download the patch.
Great news for fans! David Braben's website, The Elite Club, has released the game and Frontier II, the prequel, as shareware :) Now is your chance to legitimate experience what is one of the most underrated games ever made! Fully patched, of course :)

@CLB1966 WTF is your problem? Why the attitude? Thanks for the info, and RELAX for the rest.

This game was never released for CD32. The files in question, including the manuals, are not this game but Frontier: Elite II.

In answer to "Trusteft's" question about why this is listed as a "new" item...
That's what this site does when major changes to what's posted are made. For example, a game which was available only in DOS, but gets updated to include a Linux version, will be listed as a "new" item, as well.
Generally, they don't do that if something trivial is added... new screenshots, etc... but they DO if something noteworthy is added. As seems to be the case in this instance. And to ME, that's a very GOOD thing. (If you can't be bothered to look at what's different between a "new" item and an item you've already downloaded previously, that's your own issue, isn't it?)
I hope M.A. keeps doing things this way. So I don't have to miss major new additions to items I've seen previously.

Please note that the patch listed here is for the floppy version and will disable the videos. You will need to get the CD patch from elsewhere, such as http://ffeartpage.com/files.htm

You will need to imgmount this.Just copy the folder within the zip file (Frontier First Encounters - ISO and just add it to your dosbox root directory (sub directory under "Game" on mine then you can just load that folder as a img
so you would have something like this:
mount c Game

I have tried everything to get this game to work, no luck. I can get it to load into DosBox and Boxer. I can get the game to load after it loads into Boxer. I can get the patch to load, but still no game.

You must use Dynamic core on Dosbox 0.74 or above or the game will crash after the demo.
