Survival horror games are typically 3rd person perspective games in which the player has to survive an onslaught of undead, human, animal or monster like opponents. Usually set in claustrophobic environments where horror film elements are used liberally the player's goal is generally to escape opponents through a combination of shooting and puzzle solving. The player is typically armed, but not nearly as well-armed or armoured as a player in a first person shooter game.
